30+ new tools: video, GIF, color, calculators & more

Four days after our last release, we shipped over 30 new tools. This is the largest single update to maratool so far. Here's everything that's new.

Video & GIF tools

This is a brand new category for us. All video processing happens client-side using FFmpeg.wasm — your files never leave the browser.

FPS Converter

Change the frame rate of any video file. Upload an MP4, WebM, or AVI, pick a target FPS (15, 24, 25, 30, 48, 60, or custom), and download the converted file. Useful for matching footage to a specific timeline, or reducing file size by dropping to a lower frame rate. Supports files up to 1 GB.

Video to GIF Converter

Convert any video to an animated GIF. Trim start and end times, set output FPS and width, and preview before downloading. We also added speed control (0.25x to 4x), reverse playback, and text overlay — so you can create reaction GIFs with captions directly in the browser.

GIF Maker

Create animated GIFs from a set of images. Upload multiple frames, drag to reorder, set per-frame delay, adjust output dimensions, and generate the GIF. Powered by gifenc (~15 KB). No server needed.

GIF Background Remover

Remove the background color from any animated GIF. Upload a GIF, pick the color to remove (click on the preview or enter a hex code), adjust tolerance, and download a transparent GIF. Processes every frame individually, so animations stay intact.

Convert images between PNG, JPEG, and WebP. Drag and drop or select a file, pick the output format, adjust quality for lossy formats, and download. Uses the browser's Canvas API — no upload required.

Image Splitter

Split an image into a grid of tiles. Set the number of rows and columns, preview the grid overlay, and download all tiles as individual files. Useful for creating Instagram grid posts or sprite sheets.

Placeholder Image Generator

Generate placeholder images with custom dimensions, background color, text, and format. Outputs PNG, JPEG, WebP, or a data URL you can paste directly into your HTML. Faster than hitting an external placeholder API.

Add Watermark to Image

Overlay text or an image watermark on any photo. Control position, opacity, size, and rotation. Preview the result and download. Everything stays in the browser — your images aren't uploaded anywhere.

Image to SVG Tracer

Trace raster images (PNG, JPEG) into vector SVG. Adjust the number of colors, blur, and detail level. Download the SVG or copy the markup. Good for logos, icons, and simple illustrations.

Social Media Image Cropper

Crop images to the exact dimensions required by each social platform — Instagram post, story, Facebook cover, Twitter header, LinkedIn banner, YouTube thumbnail, and more. Pick the platform, adjust the crop area, download.

Square Matte Generator

Add a colored matte (border/padding) around an image to make it square, with the original image centered. Pick the matte color, set the output size, and download. Designed for Instagram posts where you don't want to crop a landscape or portrait photo.

Instagram Carousel Scroll Generator

Turn a wide image into a set of carousel slides that create a seamless horizontal scroll effect when swiped on Instagram. Set the number of slides and overlap, preview the split, and download all slides.

Color Harmony Generator

Generate harmonious color palettes from a base color. Supports complementary, analogous, triadic, split-complementary, tetradic, and square harmonies. Each palette shows the color codes and can be copied.

Curated Color Palettes

Browse a collection of hand-picked color palettes. Filter by mood or style, click any palette to see the hex codes, and copy individual colors or the full palette.

Color Blindness Simulator

Upload an image and see how it looks to people with different types of color vision deficiency — protanopia, deuteranopia, tritanopia, and achromatopsia. Useful for checking that your designs are accessible.

Number Base Converter

Convert numbers between binary, octal, decimal, and hexadecimal. Type in any base and the others update instantly.

Scientific Calculator

A full scientific calculator with trigonometric functions, logarithms, exponents, factorials, constants (pi, e), and memory. Supports keyboard input and shows a calculation history.

Graph Calculator

Plot mathematical functions on a coordinate plane. Supports multiple functions, zoom, pan, and adjustable axis ranges. Enter expressions like sin(x), x^2 - 3, or log(x) and see the graph update in real time.

Algebra Calculator

Solve and simplify algebraic expressions. Handles expansion, factoring, and basic equation solving. Powered by math.js.

Text Scratchpad

A plain text editor with find-and-replace, regex support, and text transformations (uppercase, lowercase, title case, trim, sort lines, remove duplicates). Think of it as a browser-based Notepad with power features.

Unicode Glyph Browser

Search and browse Unicode characters by name, block, or codepoint. Click any glyph to copy it. Covers arrows, math symbols, box drawing, emoji, and more.

Font File Explorer

Upload a font file (.ttf, .otf, .woff, .woff2) and inspect its metadata, character map, OpenType features, and glyph outlines. Preview text at different sizes and weights.

PDF Page Imposer for Booklet Printing

Rearrange PDF pages into booklet (saddle-stitch) order for double-sided printing. Upload a PDF, and download a new PDF with pages ordered so that when printed and folded, they form a booklet.

Zine Layout Generator

Generate an 8-page mini-zine layout from a single sheet of paper. Upload your pages and download a PDF ready to print, cut, and fold into a pocket-sized zine.

PDF Preflight Checker

Check a PDF for common print and web issues — page sizes, font embedding, image resolution, color spaces. Get a report with warnings and suggestions before sending to print or publishing online.

Line Height Calculator

Calculate optimal line height for any font size. Enter font size in px, see the recommended line height and the resulting spacing. Helps maintain consistent vertical rhythm in your designs.

Typography Size Converter

Convert between px, pt, em, rem, and %. Enter a value in any unit and see all the others, based on a configurable base font size.

Barcode Generator

Generate Code128, EAN-13, UPC-A, Code39, and ITF barcodes. Enter the data, pick the format, and download as PNG or SVG.

What else changed

The site now has category landing pages and subcategory navigation. You can browse tools by type — Converter, PDF, Text, Image, Color, Developer, Marketing — and drill into subcategories like Image/Social or Developer/Calculator.

The total tool count is now 79.
