Intended audience

The 131 tools in the Health category are designed for use by licensed clinicians, medical students under supervision, and other healthcare professionals familiar with their underlying scoring systems and clinical context. They are not intended for use by patients to self-diagnose, self-treat, or evaluate their own clinical risk.

Not medical advice

Output from these tools is not medical advice. No clinician–patient relationship is created by using the site. The tools are decision support — they help compute a score, classify a result, or apply a published formula. They do not decide on management for any specific patient.

Verify before relying

Every formula is implemented from the original paper or guideline cited on the tool page, and the pure math functions are unit-tested against published worked examples. Despite that, errors are possible and clinical guidelines change. Before relying on a result for patient care:

• Verify the score against your local protocol or a second reference.
• Confirm the version of the score is the one your institution uses (e.g. MDRD vs CKD-EPI, CHADS₂ vs CHA₂DS₂-VASc).
• Check that the input units match (mg/dL vs µmol/L, kg vs lb, °C vs °F).
• Read the page’s references for the scoring criteria and population the score was validated in.

What is intentionally not implemented

Some calculators that require proprietary regression coefficients or extensive published lookup tables (e.g. EuroSCORE II, the AHA/ACC PREVENT equations, pediatric BMI and BP percentile tables) are intentionally not shipped rather than approximated. An inaccurate medical calculator is worse than none. See methodology for the criteria we use.

No reviewer of record (today)

maratool is currently a solo project. Tools in the Health category are built and maintained by Marcell Almeida, a software engineer — not a clinician. There is no licensed clinical reviewer of record at this time. We disclose this explicitly because YMYL (Your Money Your Life) content should never imply credentials it does not have.
