How to calculate return on investment (ROI)
Two numbers — what you put in and what you got out — plus profit and ROI percentage.
ROI is the simplest measure of whether an investment paid off. The ROI Calculator computes profit and return percentage from initial cost and final value.
How it works
- Initial cost — what you invested or spent.
- Final value — current or exit value.
The formula
ROI = (Final − Initial) / Initial × 100. Invest $10,000, exit at $15,000 → $5,000 profit, 50% ROI.
ROI vs campaign ROI
This is a general investment ROI tool. For marketing ad spend specifically, use the Campaign ROI Calculator which also shows ROAS.
