Electric Current Converter — Amps, Milliamps & Kiloamps
Convert between amperes, milliamperes, microamperes, kiloamperes, and CGS current units.
—
How this conversion works. Every unit is converted through the ampere, the SI base unit for current defined in the BIPM SI Brochure.
How to use

Frequently asked questions
How do I convert milliampere to ampere?
1 milliampere = 0.001 ampere. Choose "Milliampere (mA)" as From and "Ampere (A)" as To, type a value, and the result updates instantly.
How many mA is 1 A?
1,000 mA. USB-A ports supply up to 500 mA (USB 2.0) or 900 mA (USB 3.0); USB-C PD chargers push 3–5 A.
What current levels are dangerous?
Across the chest, 10–20 mA AC can prevent letting go and ~100 mA can be fatal — which is why GFCI breakers trip at 5–6 mA. Currents in electronics (µA–mA) are far below household supply capability, but treat mains wiring with respect.
Is my data sent to a server?
No. Conversions run entirely in your browser using fixed factors — nothing is uploaded or logged.
