Does cropping delete the content outside the crop box?

No. Cropping sets the page CropBox, which tells a viewer how much of the page to display. The text and images outside it are still in the file and can be recovered by resetting the crop box. Never use a crop to hide confidential material — use a redaction tool that deletes the content.

Can I apply the same crop to every page?

Yes. Set the crop on the page you are looking at, then choose All pages, or type a range such as 2,5-9. Margins are measured from the edge of each page, so a document with mixed page sizes still gets the same margin on every page.

How do I remove the white margins from a scanned PDF?

Click Trim white margins. The page is scanned for the printed area and the crop box snaps to it with 2 mm of breathing room. Tick Detect margins on every page when a scan drifts, and each page gets measured on its own.

Does the crop survive in other PDF readers?

Yes. The CropBox is part of the PDF spec, so Acrobat, Preview, Chrome and e-readers all honour it, and printing uses the cropped area too. A rotated page is handled as it appears on screen, not as it is stored.
